I have the same camera, and one thing I've noticed is that the on-screen GPS speed differs to the speed on the video file - sometimes there can be 5mph more on the video than recorded via the GPS metaData...so I do agree that the camera car could have been on the limit and not speeding as per the initial video.
See attached - the software shows a different speed as to the video...
For the record, GPS is not an accurate form of speed measurement - unless you are using military grade equipment - which a dash-cam will not have.
For example, at 11-12 seconds into the video, the GPS is showing 4MPH and the car is almost stationary, and then when it moves it drops to 2MPH...It shows 4MPH when the driver is forced to move into the lay-by, after stopping - this should be more like 1MPH...
Agreed if this had been showing 40MPH then I would suspect that the car was speeding, but currently I don't see any cause for concern.
And this is why the police will not prosecute unless excessive speed is indicated, too many variables in play to ensure accuracy regarding dash-cam GPS.
So any argument regarding that the driver was speeding, unless you were behind that wheel, there is no validity to your argument I'm afraid.
I concur with this - GPS on a dash-cam is not accurate as I know going by a speeding incident where I tried to argue that I was under the limit and wasn't by their gun
had u been driving at 30 the porky most likely would have made it into the gap between the 2 lines of parked cars on his side of the road and there would have been no issues.book a day at Silverstone if u wanna put ya foot down
Even if the Porsche driver made a mistake, that in no way justifies YOUR attitude and actions. You intentionally caused more problems here, first by your speed and not reading the road and second by arguing the toss. You made it worse. At the very least think yourself lucky you didn't kill a pedestrian and/or other driver, and that you didn't come across someone even worse than yourself..
Porsche driver was committed to the manoeuvre before you were even in sight of him which is clear in the video. There was space on both left and right for you to slow down and allow him past safely.
34 mph in built up area with parked cars on the offside and a school (albeit incident was on a Saturday) with walls where pedestrians/dog walkers could emerge at any time on the near side. With your offside filled with parked cars you could reasonably have expected to encounter that situation yet you still sped towards it.
You are the prick in this situation, I'm afraid.
You should be done for speeding and driving without due care and attention. You act like you own the road and are unwilling to see the error; hence you are a danger to the public. Post your reg I dare you.
Someone please locate this road on a map. The distance covered in the time taken to cover it as well as the conditions appears to indicate this driver is NOT driving to the standard expected.
That's assuming that the GPS is correct, As stated below I have seen 5mph recorded on my GPS NextBase 412GW when sat on my drive - I['ve also had it under and over read, especially when in London and buildings get in the way.
Looks like you got a troll down-voting your comments mate. Maybe even the driver of the dash-cam? Whatever the case you hit the spot: the truth will out, and they know it..
So flying past cars and buildings (including a school) - in a densely packed area is fine is it? You're saying you have sufficient thinking + braking distance to stop in the event a car or person pulls out, despite the obvious (to most people who can drive) hazards in front of you?
You were doing 34 mph, in a built-up area. Hello? Is there anybody in there?! You need to look in the mirror before you judge other people - ideally before you kill someone.
16:53:43 I'd LOVE to see you try and pass that shit off to a driving instructor, on a test. Or how about a traffic cop. Explain to them how much of a shit you don't care for blind spots, narrow roads, apexes and SPEEDING - and how everyone else should be able to see you for miles ELSE should be able to see you for miles, despite your speed, and somehow take avoiding action.
What you are doing here is no better than running head-first into a wall then claiming the wall ran into you. Everyone else but you and your stubborn self-absorbed brain can see the utter rubbish you are peddling.
literal example here of the keyboard warrior stereo type.
I don't see any dickish driving from the camera car, only from the porsche would would have seen the camera car coming from miles, even if the camera car was doing 10 mph less, the situation would have been the same, and the porsche would have broken the highway code and caused a blockage.
As the driver of the red car with the yellow parked cars on the opposite side of the road, you have right of way. However, if an oncoming vehicle has already committed to the overtaking procedure whilst you are approaching, you should give way.
The porsche wasn't committed when he did the maneuver and could have seen the camera car approaching, he tried to bully his way through and paid the price by ending up here.
You are AS bad as the porsche driver if not worse.
You are driving in excess of 35MPH past what appears to be a school.
In addition to that you could very clearly see the porsche and you could very clearly see that there was space to pull over.
There is no excuse for your driving and I would not expect the porsche driver to have to anticipate someone driving through a narrow single file road at what is almost double the speed limit.
@ 2019-02-14 17:58:53 You don't need to get buried in semantics to see that the dash cam driver is driving not in accordance with the conditions. Are you blind or just eager to defend their idiocy?
There's no way to tell if the speed on the dash-cam is correct or not, it would depend on the GPS signal quality at the time - that's why you wouldn't be able to argue against being caught for speeding if the radar said 37mph and the dash-cam said 33mph..for example.
I hope you never drive until you have learned to understand the basics. You clearly DON'T.
30 MPH. It's a LIMIT - NOT a TARGET. You drive in accordance with the conditions first, the limit last. It's clearly NOT safe to drive at the dash-cam driver is: your reaction time is longer - and so is your stopping distance. All it takes, as is often the case, is a child to run between cars and bang: you stand a good chance (yes you arrogant person) of taking a LIFE at that speed.
You calling other people thick shits makes you the thick shit here. Learn from this and grow the hell up.
I disagree with that statement, the porshe has to pass cars, could have seen the camera car and should have waited - the porsche was 100% in the wrong.
I know that road, it's Church Street in Bocking - and outside the school it's a 30mph limit - I also know that the residents have tried to get it down to a 20, but it was rejected and they put railings outside the school.
And regarding the speedo comment, it would depend on too many factors, and possible that the speedo could have been under-reading too...it's easy to make assumptions but until you're behind the wheel of that car, that's all it is...and assumption that the speedo was reading 40mph...
Also the camera is showing 4mph and the car is barely moving, so possible that the GPS is wrong - I've seen this before too.
You’re right I forgot the speed limit doesn’t apply at the weekend
I have the same dashcam
You have to be doing 40 on the speedo
for it to be showing 35 on GPS putting it well outside the 10%+2 which isn’t even a law it’s a guideline for prosecution
Agreed the driver may be going a little faster than they should, technically borderline legal - 10%+2mph.
I suspect that the driver didn’t expect the Porsche to drive in such an aggressive, intimidating manor. In my view the Porsche driver was very much in the wrong.
And outside a school - going by the date it’s a Saturday...
Lol - you'll get downvoted to hell if you dare question someone on this site.
Anyone dares to have a nice car they should expect to be found at fault /s
You obviously don’t know the Highway Code, only proceed when the way is clear when passing vehicles, the Porsche driver could see the way wasn’t clear and decided to bully his way through
There was a gap there for them where the van stopped, but no he tried to bully his way though - you should have driven into him and claimed for the car and wiplash -
What a moron - and yeahg he should pull over where van is not like he couldnt see you coming - what a twat guess he thinks because he has a porsche that he is privalidged
A simple mistake by the Porsche driver and a sustained example of inappropriate speed from you James.
Yes the video does all the talking.
I'm sure that any residents of Bocking Church Street who may be watching this are thankful that the Porsche driver shut you down.
