Why challenge the idiot? Just let him go on and stay behind the idiot at the lights and if he gets out and assaults you report it
Why jump the red lights? had you not antagonised the situation then chickened out you wouldn't be in the situation

Yes you driver the make of car to match you road safety understanding and of course because you drive a BMW you therefore think you own the road and think you are the law BUT I hope this is reported and the right action is taken which should be, the minimum, a suspended prison sentence for your actions together with forced to retake your driving test and your insurance company notified then maybe you will respect other road users
