Just to point out something regarding the vicinity of the image of car. If you go back and look to your left you will see a car-park that has literally thousands of pieces of broken glass and it's been in this state for a very long time. This is a public safety issue. So when the police are talking about cars blocking footpaths perhaps they would do well to also notice other things. The car park itself is adjacent to Mill Street, which seems to be a right haven for all manner of anti-social vermin.

Well well, it looks like the area made the news again and for all the bad reasons. No surprise there. Great Bridge and the surrounding area is a pit - if England is a shit-hole, then Great Bridge is the orifice from which it pours. I was lucky enough to get out and every single time I come back it's the same problems.

Some interesting ideas here though. If you want to nab these scroats? Get plain-clothes coppers to walk up and down Great Bridge high street, including the area shown in the picture. Plenty of vantage points, plus they're not hard to spot especially considering the way they act. The only problem, finding a big enough cage..

Just to clarify my point, what I am basically saying is log complaints and share YOUR media so that it can potentially go viral because these days the only thing councils and police forces seem to care about is publicity..

Sorry if it seems like I'm speculating but from these posts they seem to be coming from a grandmother with kids who is pissed off at louts on bikes? If so then no problem. I ride a "road" bike and I see a lot of it in my area just outside London. And like yourself I am not trying to demonise all cyclists, just the one's who - like bad drivers - act like morons.

What you need to do is report it to the police and council. Trust me, they generally won't act because their hands are tied and because they have other priorities. The one thing neither party likes however is a bad image.

It also sounds like I am flogging a dead horse here, because been mentioned so many times, but, everyone effected needs to get potential evidence: pics, video, audio. Everything. You all need to come together and complain. How you actually resolve is also difficult..you cannot have a police officer there 24/7. But what you can do is use the CCTV resources you already have and follow it up with behavioural contracts. It's costly, lengthy, but there is literally no other choice. Some might say there are other options but the problem with that is you might end up being on the wrong side of the law, which make no mistake will come down on you like a ton of bricks because you are the law-abiding majority. Just gather your evidence and broadcast it..they may not care much to do anything on a local level but when their town is shown for the shit-hole it is to the whole wide world, well, what's the betting they WILL..and not just with bikes.

Good luck anyway. hope this helps.

p.s. More info. The problem is along the whole of the high street including where the Twitter pic was taken. The (busy) path is narrow and uneven in places, with lots of doorways. Countless times you will come out of a shop to have them coming at you and they do not care. Maybe the schools or offender institutions can also do a roll call because it seems no matter what time of day it is they are doing it. Oh and evenings turn this town into a no-go area thanks to people like this..no wonder business don't want to set up shop.

17:41:54 The police don't seem to agree with you..

The police have been patrolling due to the number of complaints (source: Twitter).

Also, I work in one of the shops here and I see lots of things going on. I don't know if the police browse these boards.. I get the opinion they don't. However if they do, maybe they could do something about the seemingly obnoxious people riding push-bikes on the pavement, in an anti-social manner?

Before anyone accuses me of tarnishing all cyclists, I am not. I have not come here to troll. I am simply referring to things like two on a bike, going too fast, and being offensive and threatening to anyone who gets in their way. My elderly husband nearly got hit the other day and I have seen the same happen to people on scooters, the elderly and the young. It's NOT on! I don't know where they get such a chip on their shoulder but I would just like the police to find them and help stop them. It would not surprise me if they are already known to the police..

Yeah, 17:41:54 What is the problem? I don't see anything wrong with this report (aside from the reference to cycle lane rather than cycle track). But the situation has been described by the up-loader and I can see their point: Outside London the law is a bit of a grey area with regards to pavement parking; however this car is fully parked on a pavement and cycle track, and is causing an obstruction. It is my understand this practice is illegal (someone please correct me if I am wrong, thanks). At the end of the day the great thing about this site is that if this doesn't interest you, then you don't have to come and you don't have to keep making empty statements about nobody being interested.. there's loads of other reports for you to get your teeth into mate :))

So I'll ask again: why do you continue to come here? Nobody is forcing you to come back to this topic. Neither are you an authority on who does and does not care - you're not a mind-reader. This is a site about rating drivers..I take it you're actually aware of this? Or are you just trolling? Seems the latter; perhaps that's why you try and have a go at the person posting the report than the actual contents herein. In other words, an ad hominem attack. Are you perhaps the owner of this vehicle or an associate?

Cut to the chase. If you want an adult conversation then I think you should come back with a better attitude. Most adults wouldn't keep coming back if they didn't give a shit..so, why don't lead by example? The more you comment here the more you care. So it would appear that either way you're fucked and your only recourse is to belt up,,

Then why are you here, especially when this is a site to report such things? Fail. Try again (this time without trolling).

Guys, please beware of Paul C and his apparent side-kick(s). His posts are often intentionally vague, misleading and confrontational. Not worth the bother unless you like talking to trolls. Hope this helps.

Not trying to be pedantic it's just I think it's important to point out this is a cycle "track" and not a cycle "lane". There's a big difference, parking on a cycle track tends to be taken a lot more seriously as naturally it is shared use (pedestrian/cyclist only).

Highway Code rule 240: "You MUST NOT stop or park on: a cycle track".

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/waiting-and-parking-238-to-252

According to the Highways Act 1980, a cycle track is a shared use path usable by cyclists and possibly also pedestrians but not motorised vehicles.

As shown, the parked vehicle is completely obstructing said facility, as well as causing access problems for both wheelchair users and prams.

You know most cycle riders personally then, Paul? Whether one chooses to cycle on it is irrelevant - the fact is, it's NOT a car park. Furthermore there appears to be ample (free) parking space a matter of a few metres away. The path is also routinely used by disabled wheelchair users and mothers with prams; several of whom have had great difficulty getting past since this person has decided to illegally BLOCK the footpath..it's not a car park.

Most cycle riders ignore them and use the road anyway.
