I would like to address an issue I feel most of us cyclists have.
Women.
I feel that women should not be allowed in public as they are scary and have no penis, therefore they are of no use to the cycling community as we are all gay.

Unless the pedestrian physically enters the zebra crossing then traffic doesn't have to stop for them in either direction. This is why you see so MANY cars not stopping. This is why you do what the pedestrian is doing: you stop and wait, ideally for both sides to come to a stop before proceeding.

The problem I see with close-passing cyclists is that the act in itself is not illegal - if it were then the the all-important "MUST NOT" wording would come into play. What we have is a system that is wide open to interpretation, abuse, and confusion.
So how do people get prosecuted for close passing? As far as I can establish they don't; they get prosecuted for careless, reckless or dangerous driving and even then, the vast majority of cases have to be witnessed by a serving police officer.
This leads me to my next point. As there is no real, workable safeguard against close passes, then is this not even more reason to ride primary? Not just at specific locations like pinch points. See, if someone is going to pass you very closely, then in my opinion you are better off limiting their ability to do so - I say "limit", as you can never guarantee they won't.

Maybe this is the first time he's been along that route otherwise would have known about the shorter route. I would have thought that whatever happened before the crossing was over but the cyclist gives the impression that he wants more.
