i would like to say the 1.4 Peugeot driver has my vote, i am happy to let people pass me safely, or people out of side roads,it the other driver wants to play safely, in my TOTALLY owned car.

Which in my opinion is the total opposite to some impatient large 4x4 and simular fancey new car drivers.
Jealous of a new car NO, do i want a new car on the drip NO.

To get so stressed out driving, to try and earn a crust to pay for this mill stone around your neck.
There is more to life.

Interest rates of 4%+ for savings of £20k+ in the UK don't exist and in other news water is wet.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Diane Abbott to respond about interest free deals on SUV's.

Manufacturers can offer what seems to be low interest rates however the cost of capital is reflected in the price vs a cash purchase ergo it's more expensive to lease / loan than purchase outright. The lease / loan will also have conditions regarding servicing, parts, mileage, etc which all generate more profit for the car manufacturer.

It's fundamental economics however many people fall for this as this as they don't have the means to purchase outright therefore get hung up on the debt interest instead of calculating the cost of ownership.

First you were quoting unrealistic saving rates and now you are quoting interest free loans.

Please show me where I can get a range rover interest free whereby the dealer doesn't inflate the price compared to a cash purchase.

Unsurprisingly, you seem to be missing the point. An interest fee loan is cheaper than buying a car outright, please do tell me otherwise if you can think of a scenario where it doesn't.

Even chucking the rest into premium bonds might make you £25 better off over the year.

Buying on credit also gives you extra protection should something go wrong with the car

Lots of cars are available at 0% and most banks offer at least a fraction of a percent of interest. But it is easy to make at least 4% nowadays.

You need to calm down on this modern generation rubbish as I'm 63. I also imagine your not an accountant.

Unlikely as debt interest is higher than savings interest.

It makes no sense for a car manufacturer to offer a business model whereby the interest they charge is less than their debt interest as their discounted cashflow would be -ve npv.

Even if you do find a "great" deal then you are leaving yourself exposed to changes by the BOE as interest on borrowings increases at a higher rate than savings interest as the delta is the banks profit leaving you with a unsustainable situation.

It's a sad reality of the numeracy illiterate modern generation whereby they live beyond their means hence the national debt and misconception that paying monthly with interest is better than purchasing outright.

People that lease can't afford to buy outright and have no assets to liquidise should their income cease.

Are there any examples of cars with 2% finance and savings accounts with 3% after tax?

Is it also better to rent a TV from Brighthouse than purchase it outright?

To keep it simple, say you have a car on finance with a 2% interest rate on the amount borrowed, and you also have a savings account that pays 3% interest.

Keep as much money in bank as possible earning 3% and pay car off monthly while racking up 2%. Not difficult to see that you earn money in this situation.

I'm not suggesting that car manufacturers would sell the same car cheaper if it was on finance compared to a cash purchase at all. Just saying that you can make your money work for you rather than chucking it all into a depreciating asset.

Absolute nonsense.

How on earth can it be cheaper to finance a vehicle including interest on the debt compared to owning a car outright?!

Are you suggesting car manufacturers would sell the same car cheaper if it was on finance compared to a cash purchase?

Not sure why The Judge is interested in the size of the drivers penis or if they own the car outright?

It is not better at all to own your car outright, even if you have enough money to buy a new car, it is often cheaper and a better financial decision to finance it. Don't assume every new car owner is up to their eyes in debt.

Exactly. It is much better to OWN your own car OUTRIGHT than to be up to the eyes in debt, overspending on running an inefficient and unnecessary penis replacement of a car.

Buy and run what you need for purpose, not to mask a mini-penis.

A 1.4 Peugeot shouldn't struggle up any hill at 15mph, unless it's in too high a gear or something is wrong with it...

I guarantee you most people who don't care about driving cars would drive an SUV if they could afford one. They're safer and comfier than normal cars but more expensive to run and own.

Its sad the rest that cant just act all self justified, and try and rationalise it by thinking about the size of the SUV owners penis.

Finally getting through the holiday footage!

Boy I have been looking forward to this one!

So to set the scene, we are on a single track lane in the middle of the moors in the Lake District. This is one of those roads that has passing places about every half a mile!

So here we are in our 1.4 Peugeot that is just about doing a job for us on the steep inclines when another case of small cock syndrome approaches us from behind. Now assuming this guy is local by the way he seemed to know the road, he would have known that there was nowhere for us to pull over at the time he began his regime to get us out of the way!

Now, under normal circumstances, at the first point where I could have pulled in, I would have. But to be tailgated along with his hand gestures and use of his horn, I decided that he could stay behind me for the duration that we were on the same road together!

See Mr nob head, if you thought for 1 second that your big car would intimidate me, you got it soooo very wrong...

This is why, instead of having to put up with us for a few hundred feet to the first passing place, you actually had to put up with us for 7 loooog miles! Yes, all them hills that our car struggled to get up at 15mph whilst you were at boiling point would not have happened if you just behaved behind the wheel like a nice little man!

Me and the missus had a great laugh at your expense!

Thanks ;-)

@ ...2018-11-06 17:12:15

The OP is not the one at fault here. The hazard on the road in this case is the idiot driver trying to intimidate and bully with their tailgating and horn beeping regime, wh8ch apparently started before a passing place was reached.

The point regarding 15mph up hills is a moot one considering the OP has stated that this was in the lake district on a single track road, with which they have implied they were unfamiliar with. A winding single track road up a steep incline, where visibility may be limited, and the road conditions will vary with road maintenance, mud across the road etc, requires a more careful and controlled approach. Good drivers know this but the idiots, such as the driver in the Range Rover, are oblivious to other people let alone good driving standards.

Contrary to your comment it is idiots like you whom need to learn to drive and should understand that you do not own the roads, you complete and utter moron.

Good on you. These idiots think that they own the toad, incorrectly. More people should take a stand against the "Thundercunts" like the moron "Andrew Pandy" who has posted on 23/10. It's not the case that another road user should get out of the way based on size or value of the car nor whether they have the finances to run a bigger car.

Think on this Andy Pandy, those with intelligence make use of cars suited to their needs rather than using them as a mask to hide their small penis syndrome. Try speaking to a therapist. Some women might apparently like your undersized endowment.

You are totally right its 100% his own fault as he generated it. If he had keep his distance initially then you would have pulled over and let him past. However karma made him quite rightly accountable in that you decided due to his actions not to pull over and make him wait for 7 miles. I would have made him accountable also by doing exactly what you did. No one intimidates me on the road, I don't care what they are driving or who they think they are.
