Persistently homicidal driver who will seriously hurt or kill someone soon.
He accelerated hard at an amber traffic light on Twickenham High St from 50m away. When he realised it was red for too long (even by his standards) he braked so hard his hazard lights were activated (a feature on this BMW). Even so, he still stopped in the bike box, not only beyond the first stop line, but beyond the second one too.
He later passed me again when the road cleared, doing nearly 50 in a 30 (confirmed by sad face sign camera). At the next lights, when I'd inevitably nearly caught up with him again, he swerved into the cycle line to stop the bike in front from going past him.
He then turned off the main road onto a residential road that runs parallel to it and used it as a rat run, all the way back to the main road. This road:
1. Is a designated cycle route
2. Has speed bumps the whole way along
3. Has cars parked along most of it, reducing it to a single lane for about 50% of the time
4. Has THREE schools on it, which at 8:25am meant there were kids everywhere
First he tried to overtake five bikes and a Royal Mail van who were held up by a reversing lorry. He was then accelerating and braking hard, trying to push past every other road user whenever he could. He finally got a 200m clear bit of road, just as he was approaching the second school. I saw a cyclist coming the other way gesticulating at him because by then he was going so fast. He hit a speed bump at well over 40mph.
I've been commuting on this route for three years now, and every day I see examples of thoughtless or careless driving. This is the first time I've felt compelled to post on this site. I can only hope that when this individual stacks their car at high speed, they are the only victim.
