My honest impression after seeing 1000's of comments and video's is that, the Highway Code needs updating. The Code has - in some people's mind - effectively become a license to kill. The devil is in the detail: some drivers interpret "should not" as "can", despite the level of danger involved. Why is this so? Because law is an ass and it doesn't want to cope with the workload of many, many bad drivers being brought to justice more severely than they would having been let off with a "talking to" or a "caution". Most people don't over-take through pinch points but some do, and they do it with impunity because the law lets them..
Where or when did you look / check before taking primary?
I'm all for vehicles giving cyclists enough room but you should have been in the cycle lane then before "overtaking" the parked HGV you should check behind before maneuveringinto primary or overtaking parked vehicle.
Yes the car was too close but the cyclist failed also - cannot vote unless the cyclist and his bike details are uploaded also.
Can't have one rule for "you" etc....
There was a cycle lane to your left. Use it.
No need to adopt an overtaking position so far from the parked truck. But by doing so you were in the middle of the carriageway.
I don't see a major problem - If the car park was full, then yes, I agree; very selfish. A very empty car park like this lends itself to owners of wide expensive cars doing the sensible thing. This driver has not inconvenienced anyone.
However, due to occupants of other cars who fling their doors open without care or caution, I think he has done a sensible thing.
This problem is made worse because of too narrow car parking spaces for the larger vehicles that are becoming popular.
The solution is, wider car parking spaces (Costco is awesome).
Most polite and welcoming driver let me cross when others weren't letting me and he had patiences
