I have been cycling for years and have decided to give up because of incidents like this. As far as I'm concerned it's simply too dangerous and there's too many ignorant, hateful and dangerous people about who think cyclists are easy targets.
The last incident I had was the other night, riding the back of a town in the Midlands named Great Bridge. A truck decided to over-take me too close, on an apex, forcing me to brake hard, in doing so almost losing control and going under the wheels. All because I was on the road and in front, cycling respectfully and legally.
Most drivers in this country are not assholes. But there's simply too many assholes on the roads putting cyclists' lives at risk on a regular basis. They do it because they can get away with it, and their actions go way beyond an innocent mistake anyone could make. Posting the reg is also only useful to a point, because they simply don't care about you or the law.
