Personal plate on his car and no arse in his trousers.
Usual kind of idiot undertaking. To be fair you do endanger yourself more if you pull out to pull back in on a two lane road, if you are continuing to travel at a constant speed then you should remain in the outside lane to continue to overtake upcoming traffic, to pull in, only to pull back out again would constitute:
a. a failure to accurately read the road ahead
b. a risk that you would be unable to pull out again due to speeding traffic overtaking/undertaking, leading to a decrease in fuel economy.
Additionally as a matter of course, most inside lanes are so badly pitted by trucks and damage and potholes that are insufficiently repaired that driving in them is just about the most dangerous form of driving. The M62 is downright appalling in some parts.
Probably could have sped up a bit considering the gap (which was increasing) you had and the speed you was driving, but that was ludicrously dangerous. Only takes a careless driver messing about on a phone or their ICE (plenty of them on our roads) to rear-end you.
Driver was overtaking correctly. Wide angle cameras make everything look further away, but in fact they have left a sensible 2-3 second gap between themselves and the car in front.
On the other hand, the silver Fiesta is far too close to the van - I am sure you would not condone tailgating!
“You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slow-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past.”
As I see it, the Camera car was still overtaking - too many people are quick to play the "lane hogging" card.
It's quite simple really, the overtaking lane is for overtaking. If you're not overtaking anyone then move back to the left.
I don't condone that twat's driving but you're really slack at overtaking.
Why is it when people get behind the wheel of a car they feel they have to be in front. The reason you remained on the “Overtaking” lane was because of just that. You believe you have a solemn right to be in front and you see someone overtaking you as a threat on your manhood. Why not concentrate on having pride of being a brilliant driver and let the idiots get on with speeding and paying fines. Would you feel the same way if a man passed you with a trolley in the supermarket? No, so why be an idiot on the road. It’s little Willy syndrome and most drivers have it.
