I agree with Pete to the extent that you have to show restraint if you expect it to go to the police. If it's name-calling in ear-shot of the other person, it will in lots of cases work against you even if you are acting under duress. In fact, your typical asshole WANTS you to act that way because they can try to use it to get themselves off the hook..forget MY driving, HE abused me so I defended myself blah blah.

This is why I always slow down and stop if I have to. Not just to be courteous but also to also make it much harder for your average asshole to try and justify the reason for crashing into you..
