If you're riding a scooter on the pavement, and something is preventing you from scooting further - DO NOT just decide to use the road.
get off the scooter and WALK on the pavement.
If you had been run over, it would likely have been put down as the fault of the driver, when in reality it would have been your own stupidity in failing to preserve your own life.
Get back to school, listen to your teachers and for god's sake, child, look before you leap.

The car wouldn't impact your journey whatsoever. They weren't overtaking anything. You literally didn't even need to slow down never mind slamming the brakes on.
