So the bloke got the sack, pretty obvious what was going on here, you had a helmet cam watching a cyclists dangerously riding central to a lane which is illegal on any road where the traffic is heavy or on a bad bend..... check the Highway Code if you don't believe me, I hope karma exists as this is a pair of cyclist out causing trouble and ruining people's lives, I really hope your proud of what you have done. Why ride in the middle of the lane? Why hit the side of the van with your fist? That's criminal damage for a start, your an utter disgrace and you are the type that are bringing this country to shit, you politically correct numpty.

The cyclists was causing a major hold up as I was travelling behind, the van driver beeped as the cyclists had already swore at him with 2 fingers when the van driver had to take evasive action prior to the clip you have all seen, the cyclists MUST stay tight to the road edge unless there is parked cars or a very narrow road which this road was a busy road that day and the cyclist was simply causing trouble hence the camera footage been clipped, I just hope next time the cyclists decides to ride so dangerously that he doesn't start thumping vans / cars as someone will stop there vehicle and seriously sort this angry cyclists!!! Anyway hope your proud of ruining someone's job & family life Jusy because your a loser and was clearly looking for trouble that day.

The problem I see with close-passing cyclists is that the act in itself is not illegal - if it were then the the all-important "MUST NOT" wording would come into play. What we have is a system that is wide open to interpretation, abuse, and confusion.

So how do people get prosecuted for close passing? As far as I can establish they don't; they get prosecuted for careless, reckless or dangerous driving and even then, the vast majority of cases have to be witnessed by a serving police officer.

This leads me to my next point. As there is no real, workable safeguard against close passes, then is this not even more reason to ride primary? Not just at specific locations like pinch points. See, if someone is going to pass you very closely, then in my opinion you are better off limiting their ability to do so - I say "limit", as you can never guarantee they won't.

A petition to legally enforce minimum passing distance last year quickly exceeded 100,000 signatures. But, just how do you enforce it? Perhaps it could be used as a good job-creation incentive, such as staff analysing 3rd-party head cam footage and a significant portion of the proceeds going towards education? I don't know. I'm just fielding ideas. But with no actual "law" stopping someone from driving several ton's of metal near your person, you can see why our roads are so damn dangerous especially taking into account the high population.

This is how I see it. What do you think? If someone thinks I'm wrong please say, I don't mind debate, I want to exchange opinions and maybe learn something new. Trolls I'll just ignore you.

Thanks.

6th May, 2017.

'A white van driver filmed forcing a cyclist off the road by swerving at him has caused a storm on social media, with one renowned QC offering free legal advice to sue.'

Source: http://road.cc/content/news/222195-video-van-driver-forces-cyclist-road-qc-offers-help-sue

Quote Response from company via Facebook:

"I am writing this letter to express my sincere apologies to the cyclist that was very unfortunate to experience a very irresponsible and dangerous move by an engineer driving one of Vidette's vehicles on Sunday 30th April.

My wife and I are both very keen cyclist ourselves so fully appreciate the impact/trauma that a near miss like this would have on anyone in this situation.
I have now interviewed the driver and can honestly say the he is so full of remorse and fully understands how lucky he and the cyclist have been on this occasion and swears to never let himself get into a position like this again He stated that he was having personal problems with his family and his mind “was all over the place” and that he is so sorry. I do believe him and could tell his apology was genuine, however we cannot condone nor let this behaviour have any place within our company, we have decided to make an example here and to promote driver awareness going forward. He has been dismissed from immediate effect!
This experience has made me realise that I can do something to help reduce this sort of behaviour on our roads so have decided to introduce a driver awareness course into our already busy H&S training matrix for all our employees. The AA seem to have a nice one called Driver Alertness Education, I have actioned this to be investigated & organised immediately.
Adding to the above, I have had full backing & agreement in these decisions from all of our management team.
I hope this letter will also be of comfort to the other road users & cyclists who have written their concerns.

NB - I was on holiday until early this morning which made an immediate answer nigh on impossible. I understand that the vast majority of mails and social media comments are from concerned genuine people however, we received some really hurtful mails wishing all sorts of medical curses on our office staff which swayed me into taking down the access from our web site & social media pages.

Sincere apologies,

Ian Frazer
Managing Director
Vidette Uk"

Reckless on the extream, and homicidal display of dangerous driving. The frivers insurance company may wish to reconsider insuring such a driver as that incident coyld have cost them hundreds of thousands of pounds.

This is a bloke in his company van trying to make a living, and this horrible twat on the bike riding in the middle of the lane will soon be flattened by a lorry / bus / van, the cyclists is clearly at fault here but the van driver maybe shouldn't have held his horn down, for the do gooders putting company addresses on here........ you are horrible scum, put your self in the position of the van driver.

Wow, whatever the opinions are of the cyclist there's absolutely no defence for the van driver's actions. To intentionally ram a vulnerable road user is criminal, pure and simple. Ban him and jail him for attempted murder.

The voice of reason.. you are james the troll do not insult the intelligence of the general public in thinking in anything other than that. we can see that you are trying to turn the publics attention towards this person called Q of which i actually find their comments quite interesting to say the least. sadly your own vile comments are something to savour and its actually you that is leaving nasty comments of filth and disgust towards others that come onto my site. now there are rules to follow on this site that many fail to accept so from this day forth i will be monitoring each and every comment placed and store in my cloud as if i should need them later for reasons only known to myself at present. i would strongly suggest that people keep to placing comments and only leave genuine views of ones driving. this is not a social media site so if you wish to slag each other off as well as insulting people then i would ask you to simply leave the site until you can conduct your manner in a civil way. i do record IP's its true only if i need to for proof as i have said for reasons only known to myself. so people please continue to enjoy this site and respect others but most of all myself. thankyou
