The only way you could have given a 'warning tap' in response to a brake check is if you were driving too close, you tailgating muppet. Good job it wasn't my car you were tailgating as it's got a lovely hard-to-notice step jutting out from the back and I absolutely WOULD make you go right into it if you kept tailgating. Your car would suffer more damage than mine.
