As a cyclist, I'd be riding about 4 - 5 inches from the NS white line with I guess a peddling sway side to side of about 2 - 3 inches tops, maybe a bit more with fatigue. It's not that hard to keep a relatively constant line..
Why cycle so far out into the lane? just because they can't nick you for it?? I can belch in a restaurant if I want, but I don't, as I know it will piss people off!!
That said, I cannot endorse the reactions of the driver, although, I do understand the frustration.
Just to add he had a 'child on board' sticker in the back window. Concerning that people as stupid as this are allowed to reproduce, and I hope he doesn't drive like that with his kid(s) in the car.

I regret to inform you that this car does not exist as of the 15/05/2017. It passed the MOT and I began driving home, only to crash into a car that did an emergency stop. I didn't react fast enough and my car smacked the boot of the car in front. Both our cars went up in flames. The women then said how it was my fault, despite him was the one breaking in the motorway. He sued me and I had to sell my car for parts, as it was broken. I'm now in debt. She laughed at my curly hair
