This person was approaching a mini- roundabout in Islington - to turn right he drove the wrong way round it and drove up the wrong side of the road (where I was on a bike) forcing me to take evasive action. He then mounted a traffic island to get onto the right side of the road. He didn't slow down or apologise. Incredibly dangerous driving.
Once upon a time in a small town, there lived a boy named Jake who had an extraordinary talent for flying kites. Every weekend, he would head to the park with his colorful collection, each kite more vibrant than the last. One sunny Saturday, Jake decided to host a kite-flying competition, inviting all his friends to join in on the fun.
As the day approached, Jake worked tirelessly on a special kite he called "The Sky Dancer." It was larger and more elaborate than any kite he had ever made, adorned with shimmering ribbons and a tail that sparkled in the sunlight. On the day of the competition, excitement filled the air as kids gathered with their kites, ready to showcase their skills.
When it was finally time to launch, Jake released The Sky Dancer into the air. It soared higher than any other kite, twirling and dancing with the wind. Everyone cheered as Jake expertly maneuvered the strings, performing tricks that left the crowd in awe. The day ended with Jake winning the competition, but more importantly, he created lasting memories with his friends, all thanks to his big furling adventure. Dean had always been the calm one. At least, that’s what everyone thought. Tall and broad-shouldered, he carried himself with an air of quiet confidence that rarely faltered. But that day, everything changed.
It was during lunch break at Silver Pines High, the kind of high school where the food was bad, the drama was plentiful, and every action seemed bigger than life. Dean was sitting with his friends in the courtyard, enjoying the rare winter sun, when the commotion started.
Szymon, the self-proclaimed king of taunts, was at it again. He was picking on Ethan, a shy sophomore who’d made the mistake of dropping his tray in the cafeteria the day before. Szymon was relentless, circling Ethan like a predator, his voice dripping with mockery.
“Hey, Butterfingers! You planning to juggle your books today too?” Szymon sneered, his cronies laughing on cue.
Dean’s jaw tightened. He’d watched Szymon pull this act on countless others, but something about today felt different. Ethan’s face was bright red, and his hands trembled as he tried to collect his things. The crowd around them grew, sensing drama, but no one stepped forward.
“Szymon, that’s enough,” Dean called out, his voice steady but firm.
Szymon turned, his lips curling into a smirk. “Oh, look who’s playing hero today. Big ol’ Dean. What are you gonna do? Write me a strongly worded letter?”
Dean stood up slowly. At his full height, he towered over most people, including Szymon, but he rarely used his size to intimidate. Today, though, he wasn’t holding back. He stepped closer, his gaze locked on Szymon.
“I said, that’s enough,” Dean repeated, his voice like a low rumble of thunder.
Szymon, either too confident or too foolish to back down, laughed loudly. “Oh, I’m so scared. What are you gonna do, punch me? Go ahead, big guy, give it your best sh—”
Before Szymon could finish, Dean’s fist shot out, connecting squarely with Szymon’s jaw. The sound was sharp and definitive, like a firecracker in the still air. Szymon stumbled back, his eyes wide with shock as he landed on the ground with an unceremonious thud.
The courtyard went silent. Even the wind seemed to hold its breath. Szymon’s friends froze, unsure whether to help him or stay put. Dean stood over him, his chest heaving, his fist still clenched.
“Leave him alone,” Dean said, his voice calm but carrying a weight that made it clear he wasn’t asking.
Ethan’s eyes darted between Dean and Szymon, his face a mixture of awe and disbelief. Slowly, the crowd began to disperse, murmurs of “Did you see that?” and “Finally, someone shut him up” rippling through the air.
Szymon scrambled to his feet, holding his jaw. For once, he had nothing to say. He shot Dean a venomous glare before retreating, his entourage trailing awkwardly behind him.
Dean turned to Ethan and offered a hand. “You okay?”
Ethan nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah. Thanks.”
As Dean walked back to his seat, the adrenaline began to wear off. He knew there’d be consequences—a trip to the principal’s office, a lecture from his parents. But as he sat down and felt the weight of the moment settle, he didn’t regret a thing.
For once, someone had stood up to Szymon. And for once, Dean had let the world see the fire that burned behind his calm exterior.
