Think yourself lucky. London and one other city are the only cities who have laws to enforce this abuse. When other people from across the country complain and nothing much can be/is done.
Surprised that people are trying to defend the driver. Plain and simple - he drove completely across a lane of traffic without checking that it was safe. The onus is upon the person doing the manoeuvre to check that it's safe to do so.
Yes the motorcyclist is going fast - but they've left enough space between themselves and the queuing traffic to reasonably expect safe passage. As long as they're within the speed limit.
Judging from the way this guy drove, the motorcyclist could have been going at half the speed and the guy would still have swung out without checking first.
Hard to believe in this day and age that someone can drive like this, be caught on film and get away with no punitive action...I spose an owner would say his vehicle had been nicked/was rushing to get his next steroid injection/was late for his anger management session....(that his wife had bought for him as a birthday present)...
